3 Guelph Real Estate Stories to Follow in 2013
This year has the potential to be an important one for real estate in Guelph. Among the many stories to keep an eye on, here are 3 that are going to impact the city’s real estate market:
Downtown Development
We’ve already seen the successes of RiverHouse Condominiums in late 2012, and with momentum poised to carry on into 2013, the project is in great shape. The construction is on track and the lower levels should be done around the end of February. That should set the stage for the main tower which will take shape quickly over the summer.
In 2012, Guelph’s councils approved the re-zoning of other downtown sites to allow for similar projects to be undertaken. In 2013, details could emerge on what may be in store for some of these sites, as well as the W.C. Wood site located just opposite downtown along the banks of the Speed River on Arthur St.
The End of Westminster Woods
Westminster Woods and Reid’s Heritage Homes have reached their final phase of the South-end subdivision. While units are still available, it is certainly the end of an era for the south of Guelph. With the first phase of the Pergola Commons plaza completed, the Clair Rd. area is poised to handle further residential and commercial development. 2013 may give a glimpse into what’s next for residential opportunities down Gordon Street and beyond.
Arbour Trails- The Village by the Arboretum
Arbour Trails is the new assisted care facility coming to the Village by the Arboretum along Stone Road. Arbour Trails will be an attractive option for lifelong Guelph residents and an excellent compliment to the lifestyle the Village already provides. With its manicured greens and picturesque water features, the Village by the Arboretum combines a wide array of amenities with a beautiful landscape- ideal for mature Guelphites looking for a private, exquisite neighbourhood. 2013 may be the best time yet to own a part of the Village by the Arboretum.
We hope you’re looking forward to the joys of 2013 as much as we are. As always, stay in touch with Guelphism.com to get the latest news and commentary on Downtown Guelph and the local real estate market!
