Buyers Flock to Preview Condo Units Still Under Construction
Chris Seto, Guelph Mercury, Friday, October 12th
GUELPH — Although the 18-storey downtown condominium development is not yet off the ground, its future tenants used their imagination when they put money down to purchase the units.
On Wednesday at around 4 p.m., residents looking to secure themselves a spot in the new RiverHouse Condominium development at the corner of Woolwich and Macdonell streets, lined up for hours in front of the building’s new showroom in Quebec Street Mall.
Karen Kessel, the broker of record for Planet Realty, said more than 200 people attended the VIP preview opening that kicked off at 5 p.m. and wrapped up at around 11. The event was held specifically for those who had pre-registered online.
Many in attendance put money down to ensure a spot in the Tricar building, where the cost of units ranges from around $250,000 to more than $1 million.
When the building is complete, it will contain 130 units. The 17th and 18th floor will be dedicated to penthouses, Kessel said. People will be able to move into the condominium by the summer of 2014.
Anyone interested in viewing how the units are expected to look when it’s complete is invited to visit the showroom downtown. On Thursday and Friday, the presentation centre is accessible by appointment only, but for the rest of the week, it is open throughout the afternoon.
